Fannatiku Fest by TheNatchan Fannatiku Fest by TheNatchan Fannatiku Fest by TheNatchan

So Fannatiku Fest is coming up soon! In fact, it is the last weekend in March (27 & 28). We've moved to the Dixie Convention Center - which has tons more space so I cannot wait to see all the hi-jinx that we have in store for our attendees.

:iconthenatchan: has a really good plug for it, so I'll just re-post what she said here:

Fannatiku Fest is a small Anime/Comic/Video Game convention in Southern Utah. But don't let small get you down, we know how to party just as hard as the biggies! We've been around for quite a few years and we're looking for new attendees and friends! Please give us a look see and maybe join us for the event! We have artists Chad Hardin (DC artist of "Harley Quinn") and Adrian Ropp joining us as well as the Cosplay and Performance duo Takeriya Samurai from Los Angeles! Just like bigger cons, we have Vendors, Artist Alley, a Video Room, an AMV Contest, Cosplay events (including the oh so popular chess), Dances and so much more. We're also introducing a new event this year... Anime Pinewood Derby! We're very excited for this year and we hope to see more people to join the party! Please come see us!   :squee:

I am still taking entries for the masquerade, too!  All the rules, registration forms, and pertinent information can be found at fannatikufest.com

Now that the shameless plug is done, on to other things.

I am really looking forward to my cosplay projects for this year.  I am currently finishing my Takarazuka Kyoya from Ouran High School Host Club.  I just hope that I can be sparkly enough to look good with :iconinterstellar: most amazing Tamaki!  I am also working on / helping with some Gundam Wing Oz uniforms, and hopefully they will be finished in time for Fannatiku Fest!  There are a few others in the planning stages, but they will depend on how much time I have to sew for myself.  Between working full time, being a wife and mom, and commissions, I have a lot on my plate.  But that is okay, I love being busy!

I hope everyone is having a lovely day!  Let me know how you are doing, please!

Hugs! :glomp:

I just realized that I haven't updated my journal since last December.  Bad Miss Relena! Bad!

Work has been crazy-busy since school let out and the Summer Reading Program began.  But that's good -- right? The only thing that really gets to me are the parents who think the library is a free daycare.  They drop their "little darlings" off the second we open, and don't retrieve them until the end of the day. Haven't had to call the cops yet... but nothing is beyond possibility yet. *sigh*  When will certain members of the community realize that there is barely enough staff to run the library properly, let alone keep track of unsupervised kids?  How on earth could we even know if the wrong adult took off with them?  Scares me to death!

I've also started working on some fun costume commissions!  With the help of :iconinterstellar: amazing embroidery machine skills, they are beginning to look wonderful.  I can't wait to see them completed.  They keep me challenged and my creativity inspired.  I hope they look the way the commissioner wants when done.

Last week I got to visit Yellowstone National Park with my husband, daughter, and immediate family.  It was a fun little reunion.  We had a great time trekking all over the park, enjoying the 75 degree highs during the day, and listening to the wolves howl at night.  (Did NOT enjoy the sunburn I got, but that was my own fault.) We had condos in West Yellowstone... which is my favorite way to camp - with beds, showers, outlets, and a full kitchen!  We saw a performance of "Disney's Beauty and the Beast" at the Playmill Theater and totally enjoyed it.  All three kids were riveted!  I also got to see one of my best friends who is working at a bakery in that town this summer, too.  It was so fun to see her!  I took a few "scenic" photos. I hope no one minds that I've posted them instead of my usual cosplay fare.

I don't have another convention until Anime Banzai in October -- unless Anime Vegas suddenly announces their dates for sooner than that.  I've got a few cosplays I am working on for then, but I'm doing it all at laid-back pace. The commissions come first. But since I'm having such a great time making those, I don't mind making them my priority.

I hope all my friends and loved ones are well.  Hugs to all!

I guess I just REALLY needed a break. . . & to get hugs from my mom. I feel much better now!

My family had a nice Christmas holiday in Idaho. It snowed the entire way there, so the drive up was harrowing. But it was so very worth it. My daughter frolicked in the drifts and had a snowball fight with her cousin. I had an appointment with my chiropractor and feel infinitely less in pain now. I was able to see family I haven't visited with in years. And my husband received a bunch of video games that he can't physically play yet. *mean snicker*  All in all, I feel buoyed up in spirit and health.

I was also able to visit with far-away friends! It was great to see :iconpan-pan: & :iconchristycard: again.

I have new energy for sewing projects, too! Bring on the fabric! :squee:

Happy New Year to everyone!

Hugs :tighthug:

Hey all!  Long time, no update.

So, 3 1/2 months after Animegacon, I FINALLY received a check for one of my awards.  It was $500 for winning Best in Master Class. However, I have yet to receive anything for my Audience Favorite Award -- not even a certificate. *sigh*  Don't get me wrong, I am extremely grateful for the $500.  The rest of the monies just would have been helpful, too - not to mention the super-fab photo shoot I was promised.  I know that Jez Roth has done everything in his power to get this all straightened out. . . but a lot of the mess is out of his hands.  He DID run a fantasically fun show that I am happy I got to be a part of.

Anime Vegas has also come and gone.  It kinda blurred by for me.  We got there late on Day 1 because my daughter had school that day. Day 2 I was sequestered with fellow Masquerade Judges :iconxxbrokenmemoriesxx: and :iconsethbramwell:.  We saw some mind-blowing cosplays, and it was a very tough show to judge!  There were technical difficulties, but I think the cosplayers and the Masquerade Staff did an amazing job rising above those challenges.  The staff were so much fun to work with!  I hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as I did.  Day 3 I had a feedback panel that went really well. . . but I was starting to feel the lack of sleep, so if I wasn't totally coherent, I apologize.

Now it's Christmas time, and I'm kinda stuck in the Doldrums.  My husband broke his right wrist right after Thanksgiving and is on temporary medical leave til the middle of January.  So he's in pain and bored. My daughter has the hyper-active pre-Christmas drive-the-parents-crazies.  Death just might be imminent for her.  I have to keep reminding myself that Christmas is only a few days away now.  I can't seem to do much right at work, I can't make it to Otakon Vegas where all my amazing friends will be, everyone keeps canceling their plans with me so I'm stuck sitting at home with all the food and such that I bought for said plans, cinnamon is the bane of my exsistence, and my pity party is getting lame. Bleh!

Maybe I'll find some inspiration in Idaho. We're heading there for the Christmas break.  All is not lost - I have hope that my spirits will revive and I will discover some holiday cheer.

I hope everyone is having a better time during this holiday season that I am.  May your days be merry and bright and full of sparklies!

Hugs! :tighthug:

Catching Up

4 min read

Sorry I haven't updated in a while - life kinda took off with me. . .

First off, my family and I moved! Not far, just a block away. The new house is quirky, but it has tons more space! I have a sewing room! An actual room dedicated to sewing and storing my fabric. :faint:  In our old place my sewing room had a fridge, sink, and cooking stove in it. (Who says you have to have a kitchen?) My daughter loves her new room - it's nearly twice the size of her old one. I love having more than one bathroom!!!  The down side - I hate packing & unpacking with a passion. So glad its nearly finished.

The Summer Reading Program at the library is finished for the year. *great rejoicing*  We were insanely busy all summer long. Now the staff is picking up the pieces & getting things back to normal.

I'm sewing again - for Halloween & Anime Vegas. My daughter wants to be Cardcaptor Sakura for Halloween. She found out Sakura is in the fourth grade & decided it MUST be fate. I'm also fixing up her Chibi Moon cosplay for AV. As for me, I'm working on an Ouran inspired ballgown for the Masquerade Ball and something new for me to wear on day 2. (I'm trying for something easier to sit in than last years dress o' doom!) If I have time, I might make a Takarazuka inspired Kyoya gown, too. Wish me luck! :squee:

If you're attending Anime Vegas, let me know so I can be sure to hunt you down *ahem* I mean find you! I miss everyone so much!

Sadly, I cannot make it to Anime Banzai this year. :(  Funds & PTO just won't allow for it. I hope everyone who attends has a blast!

Well, that sums up my life for the past few months. I hope everyone is well & happy!

Hugs! :tighthug:
